Owner/Operator

Hi! I'm Ruchi Sharma and I approach my organizing with an eye on design (hence the name!). I have a business degree and MBA and worked in a Top 5 management consulting firm for years helping organizations create more efficient and organized systems and processes.

Over the years I've created organized spaces for my own household with 3 kids, extended family, and numerous friends. I have always had a knack for organizing whether it's companies or closets.

My Approach

I believe a space should not only be organized, but also visually appealing and welcoming. Every project starts with getting to know you and your family, then planning systems, zones, and storage that are easy to maintain and natural to use.

Kitchen Pantry

For this kitchen pantry, I removed expired food, grouped similar items, and cleared out anything that did not belong in the pantry or kitchen. I then repurposed the homeowner's existing containers to create a more organized, functional, and easily accessible space.

Dining Table

My client's dining table had become a dumping ground for work and homework supplies — so I cleared it all out, sorted everything, and created a dedicated workspace in a nearby kitchen cabinet (pictured to the right), giving the family back their table for actual meals!

Desktop Area

I decluttered, organized and integrated all the items from the dining table area and created a highly functional workspace for the homeowner and their kids for homework and bill management.

Office

I unpacked and organized a homeowner's new office into a highly functional and aesthetically pleasing space.

Coffee & Wine Bar

I helped the client transform a previously unused area into a dedicated coffee and wine bar using some old cabinets she had. By relocating all related items to these cabinets-and adding paint, tiles and mirrors-I created a beautiful, functional space for both coffee and wine while freeing up valuable room in the kitchen pantry.

Drawers

I use this folding method for both adults' and kids' clothing so everything is visible at a glance, instead of being stacked in layers.

How do I get started with OBD?

After you contact me, I provide a half-hour initial consultation at no charge. During this time, we review your space, discuss goals, share ideas, and go over my approach and fees. I usually do this virtually via FaceTime, Zoom, or phone using your photos and video clips, and if you're nearby, I'm happy to do a home visit.

How long does a typical organizing session take?

Most sessions run between 3-6 hours depending on the space and your goals, with a 3-hour minimum per session.

How much do you charge?

I mostly charge by the hour, and for some larger spaces I may charge by project. Factors like complexity and travel time are also considered. I typically start at $60/hour, which is lower than many local organizers.

Do I need to buy bins and containers before we start?

No. We start with what you already own, then recommend only the products that improve function and fit your style.

Can you help with decluttering decisions?

Yes. We guide you through a supportive, judgment-free process to help you decide what to keep, donate, recycle, or discard.

Do I have to be there?

While I prefer clients to make the keep and purge decisions, I can also work solo on many projects. We can discuss what works best during your initial consultation.

Do you have contractors that can help with redesigns/remodels?

Yes, I work with many contractors who can come in and complete projects that I design for you (like the coffee/wine station).

What areas do you serve?

I primarily serve Maryland, DC and Virginia.
